The Online Learning Management System (or the OLMS) is a web application that enables the creation, management and deployment of online courses. The system model employs a modular approach to the creation of courses and tutorials that results in a pool of a smaller, outcome focused Learning Objects. The Learning Objects are then available as a searchable body of resources for use in a system driven performance support environment.
no|inc's role in this project is to design and develop the system from the ground up. The course system components include: template based course creation tools with built in guidance and optional human instruction, rubric creation and grading tools and feedback tools.
The system instances are deployed as Areas of Study. Each area of study is assigned relevant topics and audiences which serve as the basis for organization of content, courses, and users.
The Courses, tutorials and learning objects are managed within a Knowledge Library which is organized by these topics and audiences.
A Performance Support website can be deployed for an Area of Study that offers access to courses, tutorials, and associated ELCs while providing a searchable, self referential system for accessing Learning objects.
This is an example of a tutorial published from the Online Learning Management System. The system features include:
- Creation of template driven courses and tutorials
- Knowledge Library of courses, tutorials, and learning objects
- Course management tools (i.e. gradebook, rubric creator, feedback tools)
- User management
- Performance support website creation
- Customized interface capability
