Alex Markson

Alex Markson, child prodigy turned partner and founder of the technology practice at no|inc, is a technical visionary with the unique ability to bridge the gap between concept and reality.

Alex brings over 15 years of experience to no|inc. His early work was focused on the creation of several communications systems developed before widespread penetration of the Internet. His involvement with the Internet predates the creation of the World Wide Web.

Tackling his first lead role at the age of 14, Alex partnered with two Finnish college students to build an Internet-based multi-user dimension (MUD) facility serving as the basis for a non-profit organization. Functioning as Chief Technology Architect, Alex led the development efforts of multi-national teams with members from Germany, Finland, Norway, Holland, Russia, Poland, Australia, England and the United States.

At age 18, Alex began consulting over a broad spectrum of technologies. His work experience has afforded him a vast collection of specialized skill sets, including network design and implementation, legacy system interfaces and migration, software design, object-oriented design and development, relational database management systems, network operating system deployment and support, complex hardware system management and acquisition, desktop application development, web design, Intranet/Extranet development, PDA development, embedded systems, software localization/internationalization, among others.

From the handheld to the desktop, through the wire and into the server room, Alex has a fundamental and complete understanding of all of the technical components of any given project.

His impressive list of accomplishments includes developing the Arabic PalmOS for the Palm Computing Platform, leading development for the Internal Revenue Service Y2K certification/conversion expert system and the design and development of a suite of electronic learning web applications for the Johns Hopkins University Center for Technology in Education, as well projects for CACI, the Hariri Foundation, Host Marriott Corporation, U.S. Government General Services Administration, Dynamics Research Corporation, Sylvan Learning Systems, British Telecom Worldwide, Conservation International, Smithsonian and MTV among others. Alex has also served as a visiting instructor at the George Washington University.
