James Hagen

A founding partner of no|inc, James brings over ten years of design experience, including seven years developing interactive media.

James established no|inc in the summer of 2000 with Mark Maloney, Andrew Spangler, and Alex Markson with a shared dedication to quality, accessibility, and innovation in the rapidly evolving field of interface design. James has developed user experience strategy and creative development for The Discovery Channel, The National Aquarium, The Learning Channel, NASA, Advertising.com, Johns Hopkins University and the Smithsonian Institution. In addition, James has led design and development for a series of electronic learning applications for the Johns Hopkins University Center for Technology in Education, Maryland State Department of Education, and Pearson Education. These web based learning tools include an online community application for educators, an electronic portfolio application, a student monitoring and progress tracking tool, and a learning management system.

James is also active outside of the commercial arena. He is currently teaching graduate classes at Johns Hopkins University and is an active member of several industry groups. His work has been recognized by the London International Advertising Awards, the New York Multimedia Festival, the Omni Intermedia Awards, the Baltimore and the Washington ADDY Awards, Summit Creative Awards, and the Maryland ITVA Awards, among others.

James is a member of the Advertising Association of Baltimore, the Art Directors' Clubs of Metropolitan Washington and New York, and the Greater Baltimore Technology Council. He is a graduate of the graphic design program of the Maryland Institute, College of Art.
