James Hagen

General Manager & User Experience Strategy

James co-founded No.inc in 2000 as a consulting firm focused on providing interactive strategy and solutions for a diverse set of clients including AOL, Advertising.com, T he Coca-Cola Company, Johns Hopkins University, Laureate Education, The Smithsonian Institution, and Pearson Learning.

Since the company’s inception, James has led the efforts to grow No.inc into a full-service interactive firm. James has been responsible for defining the company’s customer engagement process, project management practices, financial strategy, and business operations systems.

With his guidance, James’s team has created a wide range of award-winning solutions. Employing a user-centric approach, the team finds solutions through examining and breaking down human processes and culture and integrating them with technology. In 2007, James led the user experience strategy and design efforts to bring television online with TidalTV.com. In 2006, James worked with AOL’s Advertising.com to define and standardize user experience design patterns for a suite of consumer products. In 2003, James led the user experience and product strategies for the creation of an online learning management system for Johns Hopkins University.

James received his BFA from The Maryland Institute College of Art. In his spare time he teaches interactive design at Johns Hopkins University and races sailboats in the Chesapeake Bay.

Andrew Spangler

Creative Director

As Creative Director of No.inc, Andrew oversees the shared creative vision between No.inc and its clients. Andrew has more than 14 years of experience in digital communications, post production, animation, social media, information architecture, and online games.

Andrew was the creative lead on projects for MTV, The Nature Conservancy, Discovery, The Wall Street Journal, British Telecom, and the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. Most recently, he directed the creative process for a collection of online demos designed for Verizon Communications. The demos were integral to Verizon’s rollout of a new Enterprise Center Dashboard which services millions of users and required translation into nine different languages including Chinese and Japanese.

Andrew brings seasoned expertise in keys areas such as rich media and interaction design. His work has been showcased in publications such as Vogue magazine, Shift (Japan), and Elements of Web Design by Peach Pit Press.
